Product Codes: They are codes assigned by the government agency that regulates the products. SFA assigns the Product Codes for food items regulated by SFA. Product Codes further classify the goods. For instance, fresh apples and cut apples have the same HS Code, but different Product Codes. Fresh apples are classified as ‘Fruits and Vegetables’, whereas cut apples are classified as ‘Processed Food’. When applying for import, export and transshipment permits, you will be asked to enter the Product Codes for your goods.
