What You Need to Know for Export / Tranship of Animal Feed for Food-Producing Animals

Step 1: Ensure that your animal feed meets SFA’s requirements

Animal feed that is manufactured or processed locally must be manufactured or processed by a SFA-approved establishment holding a valid Licence to Manufacture and Process Animal Feed from SFA.

Step 2: Ensure that your animal feed meets the requirements of the destination country/region

Countries/regions importing your animal feed may impose import requirements (e.g. importer’s registration and labelling). Ensure that your animal feed complies with these requirements to avoid delays, detention of your animal feed, and other complications.

Check with your customer i.e. the party importing your animal feed on the import requirements. You can also check with the Competent Authority of the destination country/region.

Step 3: Apply for a Cargo Clearance Permit (CCP)

Follow the steps below to apply for a CCP.

Obtain the Harmonised System (HS) code

When applying for your CCP, you will need to enter the product/HS code of your product accurately. HS codes classify and identify food or food products, as well as animal feed for import and export purposes.

You can use the Product Code Search Tool to look up product/HS codes.

Gather the supporting documents

You will need to submit the following supporting documents when applying for the CCP:

• invoices
• bill of lading/airway bill
• certificate of origin

Apply for export documents (if required)

The importing country/region’s authority may require export documents to be submitted for every consignment.

You can obtain the following export documents from SFA if required:

Veterinary Certificate
Free Sale Certificate (Animal Feed)

Only applicable to SFA-licensed manufacturers of animal feed.

Please refer to the user guide below for information on the steps for application of export certificates.

Apply for a Cargo Clearance Permit (CCP)

You must apply for a CCP through TradeNet for each consignment. The CCP is equivalent to an SFA import permit.

To avoid delays in processing your CCP, ensure you enter the correct HS codes and attach the supporting documents to your application.

Approval by SFA

Complete permit applications are processed within 1 working day.

Make Payment

Once your application is processed, you will be notified through TradeNet to make payment for the CCP.

Animal feed	$22 per consignment

For applicants with a GIRO arrangement with SFA, we will deduct the fees via GIRO.

Print your CCP

Once your CCP is approved, you may log into TradeNet to print a copy of the CCP.
