SG Fresh Produce (SGFP) Logos

      What are the SG Fresh Produce (SGFP) logos?

      The series of SGFP logos were introduced in February 2022 to enable consumers to easily identify and purchase local produce on food product packaging. SFA-licensed local farms can also use these logos to brand and promote their produce. 

      What do the stars in the series of SGFP logos represent? 

      The stars represent different tiers as summarised in the table below.

      What are the ways the SGFP logo can be used?

      The SGFP logo can only be used on the packaging and in marketing and promotional materials of local produce from SFA-licensed farms. Farms/companies must agree to the terms of use and obtain SFA's approval before they can use the logos. 

      Follow the steps below on how to apply to use the respective SGFP logos.

      Step 1: Ensure your farm/company qualifies

      You are eligible to apply to use the SGFP 1-star logo if you are one of the following:

      • SFA-licensed farm
      • Distributor of local produce
      • Supermarket retail store/wet market stall that sells local produce

      Step 2: Ensure your farm/company agrees to the terms

      Eligibility
      Your farm must have a valid licence from SFA with a minimum of 6 months validity. You are a distributor, supermarket retailer or wet market stall holder, and the local produce distributed or offered bearing the logo must be from SFA-licensed farms in Singapore.
      Approval before use
      You must ensure you get approval from SFA for draft artwork featuring the SGFP logo on any packaging, marketing materials or promotional materials whether online or in print before use.
      Logo application

      Logo can be used on

      1. Packaging of primary produce, i.e. fresh produce grown/farmed in Singapore 
      2. Marketing materials promoting local produce

      If the SFA-Licensed Farm carries both local and imported produce, the logo can only be used in association with local produce. For example, the logo should only be featured next to the item produced locally and not next to the imported produce.

      Logo can be used on

      1. Packaging of primary produce, i.e. fresh produce grown/farmed in Singapore
      2. Point-of-sale and any relevant marketing materials* promoting local produce

      The logo can only be used in association with local produce. For example, the logo should only appear next to or refer only to the item produced by a SFA-licensed local farm.
      Labelling guidelines

      All prepacked food products for sale in Singapore, including any materials carrying the SGFP logo, must be labelled according to the labelling requirements of the Food Regulations. These include requiring any claims made to be truthful. For example, ‘zero pesticides’ or ‘pesticide-free’ claims must be backed by supporting documents which show that pesticides were not used throughout the farming process and that the presence of pesticides cannot be detected in the produce. Upon request by SFA, documents supporting the claim must be submitted. You may refer to Labelling Requirements for Food for guidance to meet the requirements.

      Validity of approval from SFA
      Approval from SFA for the use of the logo is valid for 2 years. You must submit a fresh application every 2 years.

      Step 3: Gather the information required

      Before applying, gather all the information required to complete the Application for SG Fresh Produce Logo Use form such as how you plan to use the logo, and the estimated rollout date for your packaging, collaterals, and points of sale.

      At the point of application, you do not need to submit your draft artwork. 

      Step 4: Submit SG Fresh Produce Logo Use Application Form

      Complete and submit the Application for SG Fresh Produce Logo Use form with all the required information. There is no application fee.

      SFA takes up to 5 working days to process complete applications. Incomplete applications will take a longer time to process. You will be notified of the application status via email. A copy of the logo files and usage guidelines will be provided when you have an in-principle approval from SFA.

      Step 5: Submit your artwork with SGFP logo for approval

      After you have received in-principle approval from SFA, please send your artwork with the SGFP logo to SFA for approval. Remember to send all artwork featuring the SGFP logo to SFA for clearance before use.

      Your submission will be reviewed by SFA within 5 working days to review your artwork. Upon approval of artwork, farms/companies can proceed to use it for the approved purposes. The SGFP logo is gazetted, which means they are legally protected. Any unauthorised use is against the law. 

      2-Star SG Good Agricultural Practice (SG GAP) logo

      Step 1: Ensure your farm/company qualifies

      You are eligible to apply for SG GAP certification if:

      • You hold a valid local farm licence from SFA
      • Your farm has at least 3 months of farm records

      Step 2: Send your staff for training

      You are strongly encouraged to get your staff to attend SG GAP training to better understand GAP implementation before applying for the certification. Training duration and fees can be found in the course details.

      Step 3: Contact SAC-accredited certification bodies

      To be SG-GAP certified, your farm must be audited and certified by a SAC-accredited Certification Body (CB). Contact one of the CBs listed below to learn more about their services and fees. Appoint one of the CBs to certify your farm. 

      Once you have identified your appointed certification body, you may apply for the ACT funding.

      Step 4: Get certified by the appointed Certification Body

      Go through the certification process, which involves an audit by the CB. The CB will produce an audit report and issue you a GAP certificate if you meet the standards. 

      Icon Tip
      The report and certificate must be submitted within 3 months from the date of issue to SFA to obtain the SG GAP certification mark.

      Step 5: Submit SG GAP Certification Mark Application Form

      Now that you are GAP certified, you can apply for the SG GAP certification mark. Fill in and submit the Application for SG GAP Certification Mark to SFA along with the audit report
 and certificate from the CB. 

      SFA will take 5 working days to process complete applications. Incomplete applications take a longer time to process. You will be notified via email.

      You are required to list the ways you intend to use the certification mark in the application form. Prepare the list in advance to make your application process smoother.

      Step 6: Submit your artwork with SG GAP logo for approval

      After you have received approval from SFA to use the logo mark, you will need to send your artwork to SFA for approval. Remember that you will need to send all new artwork featuring the SG GAP logo to SFA for clearance before use.

      SFA will take 5 working days to review your artwork. You will be notified via email. Upon approval of artwork, farms/companies can proceed to use it for the approved purposes. The logos are gazetted, which means they are legally protected. Any unauthorised use is against the law.

      You are eligible to apply for SG C&G certification if:

      • You hold a valid local farm license from SFA
      • Your farm has at least 3 months of farm records

      Step 2: Send your staff for training

      Step 3: Contact SAC-accredited certification bodies

      To get SG-C&G certified, your farm must be audited and certified by a SAC-accredited Certification Body (CB). 

      Use the search tool provided by the Singapore Accreditation Council to find suitable SAC-accredited Certification Bodies. Contact them to learn more about their services and fees, and appoint one to certify your farm.

      Once you have identified your appointed certification body, you may apply for the ACT funding.

      Step 4: Get certified by the appointed Certification Body

      Farms must first be certified under the relevant SG GAP standard followed by the corresponding C&G standard. For instance, aquaculture farms must first be certified under the SG GAP SS670: 2021 followed by SG C&G standard SS 689: 2022.

      For SG C&G standard SS 689: 2022 there are additional testing requirements for aquaculture farms, which can be found in CT 26 SAC Criteria For Certification Bodies (GAP and Clean & Green Urban Farms). You should review them ahead of the certification. 

      Once you have completed the certification process, the CB will produce an audit report and issue you a C&G certificate if you meet the standards.

      Step 5: Submit SG C&G Certification Mark Application Form

      Now that you are C&G certified, you can apply for the SG C&G certification mark. Fill in and submit the Application for SG C&G Certification Mark to SFA along with the audit report and certificate from the CB.
