Businesses that Need Licence / Registration for Fishing Vessel, Gear & Personnel

All inboard fishing vessels and fishing equipment onboard must be licensed by SFA. Individuals employed or engaged in any activity on a fishing vessel must also be registered.

      When are licences/registrations required?

      Under prevailing laws:

      • all inboard fishing vessels need to be licensed

      • new fishing gear onboard fishing vessels need to be licensed

      • employees and individuals engaged in any activity on fishing vessels to be registered

      What are the requirements or conditions?

      To obtain the required licences/registrations, you must meet certain conditions. For details, see Requirements for Licence / Registration for Fishing Vessel, Gear & Personnel.

      How much do the licences/registrations cost?

      Fishing Vessel Licence Inboard Engine less than 50GRT$175 per year
      Fishing Vessel Licence Inboard Engine more than 50GRT but less than 100GRT$242 per year
      Fishing Vessel Licence Inboard Engine more than 100GRT$470 per year
      Licence to use new fishing gear onboard a licensed fishing vessel$20 per year
      Registration of a person employed or engaged in any activity on a fishing vessel

      $14 per year per person for vessels prefixed with SMF


      One-time registration fee of $14 per person for vessels prefixed with "SF"
